About this deal

It is ultimately an engrossing story about a rebellious adolescent confronting a hostile, unsympathetic world and the sometimes-unbearable burden of the future weighing on his shoulders. The Full HD disc also packs three cuts of the film (Theatrical, Special Edition and Extended Special Edition), via seamless branching. Official description: James Cameron's epic action, sci-fi masterpiece starring Arnold Schwarzenegger in his most iconic role, first hit cinema screens in 1991, 30 years later Terminator 2 is still considered one of the greatest action blockbusters of all time.

Extras: All extras can be found on the 1080p disc – all you get on the 4K platter are mind-bendingly slow animated menus that delay your enjoyment of the movie. In addition to the standard retail 4K Blu-ray/3D Blu-ray edition of the film, the studio will have available for purchase a Limited SteelBook Edition. And, of course, the HDR implementation is pretty exceptional - something which often gets lost in all the hyperbole of just how 'bad' this video presentation is. Readers who still have the DVD-18 (or 2-disc DVD) edition from Artisan (now Lionsgate) are urged to still hold on to that version, which was very rich in special features. The resulting audience stampede saw it challenge box office records, cement James Cameron's status as Hollywood royalty and have it crowned by some as that rarest of things – a sequel superior to its forebear.I originally was going to include screen shots using my smart phone with HDR turned on but decided I was not getting an accurate enough capture of what I was actually seeing on my display so I deleted the pictures before I actually posted. No, the picture is brimming with excellent detailing, it just doesn't have any organic grain and thus doesn't look anything like it did back in 1991. First hitting our screens in 1991 with ground-breaking special effects, this version will take the seminal blockbuster to the next level of effects and into the 21st century for a new generation of fans.

I have all the above tat which is cool and I still like them on the shelf but this new release looks awful and there's nothing new so far transfer wise. Then got the limited edition t-800 arm set that is 4k, but I guess we are wondering is this a better transfer? The dual-layered UHD66 disc sits comfortably opposite a Region A locked, BD50 disc inside a black, eco-vortex case with a glossy slipcover. I think the overall quality of the film, the quality of the presentation; we worked very hard on good 3D. Arriving stateside, the Ultra HD Blu-ray fights for the future with the same somewhat average but ultimately disappointing 4K presentation seen in the European release courtesy of Studio Canal, offering only a minor improvement over its Blu-ray counterpart.

Along with the updated visuals and sound, the film will also have a collection of bonus content and features, including a brand new documentary. I think it was ARROW recently tweeted about how they want to do a proper 4K restoration and release of T1, but Smurfs come first, and they can't do anything without Cameron.

Though this situation doesn’t look to be on level with that disaster; it is sadly missing the 30th Anniversary by a long way, which was of course to mark the original release date of T2, and was July 3rd, 1991. For myself even with the lack of film grain and the over sharpness of the hair in some scenes I feel the purchase of the 4K UHD blu-ray was a upgrade from the former blu-ray copy in the area of picture and sound.

to mention some deficits in quality that seem to afflict this label's UHD product more than some others. We were subsequently informed that Studiocanal's UK release was being delayed until December 4 - however when we asked whether or not there would be any differences in the retail discs to the ones we were sent for review, we were informed that 'It's literally just a production delay and the discs will be no different to the ones you received'. Schwarzenegger gets to show off his lighter side, with his robotic character trying to deal with being reprogrammed to not be a killing machine. He graduated from Hofstra University with a Film Studies degree and a Creative Writing minor with the hope of one day making something like the art he grew up enjoying.
