About this deal

The newer 2023 edition of the Sony 70-200mm sets out to take everything up a notch or two from is older (and less expensive) predecessor. It is lighter and has can focus much closer - in fact, can deliver 0.5x magnification close-ups. The 70-200mm F2.8 falls short of competitors in one area—macro photography. The Tamron 70-180mm G2 and the Sony FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM II focus closer, for 1:2.6 and 1:3 magnification, respectively. The Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 manages 1:5.2 at its 200mm focal length and 39.4-inch minimum focus distance, so it matches up more closely with the Lumix S Pro 70-200mm F2.8 and its 1:5 macro focus. The lens focuses to 25.6 inches at 70mm, but the wider angle results in less magnification. For macro photographers who don't mind an F4 zoom, the FE 70-200mm F4 Macro G OSS II is the best in the class thanks to its 1:2 reproduction. The 200mm market is a sizeable business for device and equipment makers alike. More than 200 fabs in operation worldwide today produce chips using 200mm (8-inch) diameter wafers. Chipmakers use these 200mm fabs to manufacture chips based on mature processes, ranging from the 350nm to the 90nm nodes. Analog, display drivers, power management ICs (PMICs), and RF devices are among the chips produced in 200mm fabs. It has several manual and autofocus control buttons that make focusing a simple process. In addition, the lens also comes with a 1.4x teleconverter which can boost its focal distance to 280mm. The conversion factor from mm to inches is 0.0393700787. To convert any value of mm to inches, multiply the millimeter value by the conversion factor.

However, it gets less sharp as you zoom in, and is just plain soft at telephoto. So if you’re looking for crisp detail corner-to-corner when viewing your images up-close onscreen, or want to make super-sharp A3 prints, you’ll need to compromise on zoom range and save up more money for the 12-100mm F4 IS Pro or 12-40mm f/2.8 Pro. But for those who don’t need fine detail, then the 12-200mm actually does a pretty decent job.Our reviewer particularly enjoyed how intuitive it was to use, noting the sensible layout of the five switches for focus and stabilization on the side of the lens: in particular, the control ring on the base lets you change ISO, aperture and shutter speed. This lens is also fully weatherproof and has a Super Spectra coating on the front and rear elements that fends off dust and moisture — perfect if you're planning shoots in the great outdoors. This is another good case where this lens comes very handy. When you need something for very diverse shooting situations, where changing lenses is not an option and where you don’t have the luxury of carrying multiple lenses. I must admit that I very much enjoy Nikon Z prime lenses for my family portraits. So I will bring either 50mm 1.8 or 85mm 1.8 lens with me if possible. Having fun with waves, Croatia. It didn't bother me too much, but I frequently swap from one camera system to another. (Credit: Jim Fisher) The autofocus is indeed silent and I finally have a longer lens I can shoot video with using AF. The AF performance is the usual on Z cameras and lenses. I haven’t noticed any significant difference from let’s say 24-70mm f4 S lens. Aperture
