I regretted selling all my singles for years so getting almost all the material again in nice box sets rather than loads of singles on various formats was very welcome. I haven't heard the 2012 double album, but the original 1994 UK sounds very good, Girls and Boys sounds fantastic on it.
This extraordinary four-disc set rounds up everything Blur produced around the time of Parklife, including the original album, remixes, radio sessions, demos and live performances.Double LP on heavyweight 180 gram, audiophile vinyl and housed in a replica of the original sleeve artwork. Initial copies come with a circular 'blur21' sticker that reads: The remastered special edition LP 180 gram vinyl includes a code to download the album as high quality MP3. That satisfied my appetite for B-Sides and non-album stuff enough to resist the double CDs, although it cost me more and the tracks were not lossless. It also seems like there are slight distortions from the factory, throughout the whole record, popping scratching sounds. Will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it.
Curious as to why this didn’t get repressed like the others, which seemed to be pressed in greater quantities and for longer?Although Blur had long been recognised as one of the premier bands responsible for the reinvigoration of Britpop in the 1990s, it is 1994's Parklife that truly provided the template for the entire movement. Funnily experimental and seriously radio-friendly, "Parklife" is their true concept album, somewhat informed by the predecessor LP "Modern Life Is Rubbish", an intriguing statement-by-title, fully absorbed with "Parklife" into a tour-de-force, socio-political 16-track masterpiece.
The organic qualities of vinyl allow fans to engage with the album in a new light, presenting a heightened appreciation for the group's musicianship. If anyone can point me towards this version or at least the closest thing to it, I would be very appreciative. Ahhh the joys of opening the sealed black copy you thought you had sat on the shelf for a few years only to find a limited colour edition inside.that said, it's clearly cut from the original CD master, and while it sounds good, the 2LP remaster sounds much better. The only difference is that one of the pressings is on typical thin vinyl (common on LPs/12" singles from this period.
