So, yeah: Black Lace Rabbit darkens and mutes light colors slightly, adding a gray cast and a lot of shine. I remember when Besame had some ups and downs as well; I'm not sure about the health of the Julie Hewett brand.

This didn’t surprise me, since Lipstick Queen sells two “Smokey [sic] Lip Kits” that pair Black Lace Rabbit with a beige nude and a neutral pink. It’s definitely not the worst lipstick I’ve ever tried, but like so many aspects of the Lipstick Queen brand, it confuses me. I've heard good things about Medieval and Jean Queen, but I'm not really into sheer lipsticks (never mind that I have at least half a dozen, haha).Unlike most other LQ lipsticks, which come in brushed-metal tubes, it was made of solid black plastic with a lacy design on the cap.

In the next few years, the Lipstick Queen founder created a couple of lines for other brands: I remember a “Poppy King for J. Lipstick Queen makes some of my favourite lip products, the formulas are always hydrating with amazing colour payoff, you can check out my review on the Rear View Mirror Lipsticks here. but most of them usually just end up making your lips look like you just made out with a cherry popsicle. I also found that the color becomes more noticeable over the course of a few hours, but in a way that’s just as lovely.

I used to really enjoy the LQ line, but the recent foray into the gimicky side of make-up marketing has definitely turned me off some. Reminiscent and iridescent, Blue By You encourages us all to get out in the center of the dance floor, and strut our stuff. Haha, I can only imagine how infuriating that site must be if it's your actual job to organize and classify things. But Lipstick Queen’s Frog Prince isn’t actually a green lipstick; it uses some sort of cosmetics witchcraft to only show up pink on your pout! In fact, it looked and felt more like a lip balm thanks to moisturizing ingredients like shea butter and vitamin E.

Swiping this royal purple once will give a sheer purple tint to my lips or add a few more swipes to build into a vibrant bright fuchsia which I really love. My least favorite of all the shades I’ve tried, but that’s personal preference as I tend to gravitate towards corals and pinks moreso than berry hues. BLR worked best over three light-colored matte lipsticks: Milani Matte Naked, a slightly grayish nude; Urban Decay Backtalk, a mauvey pink; and ColourPop Trap, a light purply greige. This is the perfect entry product for anyone curious about berry lipstick but not quite ready for a matte, full-coverage formula. It is advertised as turning a “bright tangerine” but was definitely more pink for me, as you can see below. I couldn't help smiling at the phrase \”LQ user\”: I think it's fair to describe myself as a lipstick \”user\” as well! I'd definitely use Highway 66 (a pale green balm that turns into a light peach) as an everyday lip balm —you can swipe it on without a mirror, which is a requirement I now have for all of my lip balms since moving to New York.For something more fun, work with the Lipstick Queen Old Flame Lipstick that is a colour changing lipstick that goes from bright orange to a wearable peach. You would never think that a green-colored lipstick would actually reveal a pretty pink hue once it graces your lips, but it does! The flat top and color scheme reminded me of a Flintstones Push Up popsicle, and honestly, the product kind of made me look like I'd just eaten one.
